Welcome to my blog, where I am excited to share my passion for surface pattern design. Patterns by nive came to life in 2020 with a simple desire to share my creative work with the world.
My love for prints has always been a driving force in my life, and I couldn't resist taking the first step towards making my dream a reality. I started from scratch, learning everything from digital illustration to software tools and building pattern collections. But I didn't create art for the sake of business; I created it purely for the joy it brought me. This space, this creative outlet, is my happy place. However, the desire to upskill and improve my craft was always present. I knew I wanted to take my passion further, and that led me down a path of constant growth, learning, and discovery.
"Passion is the fuel that ignites our souls, propelling us to reach new heights and grow beyond our wildest dreams."
But even as I honed my skills, I struggled with finding my own artistic identity. It took time, patience, and a lot of self-reflection to truly understand who I am as an artist and what my style represents. And that's what I want to share with you in this post – the influences, design aesthetic, and values that shape my creative journey.
I believe in the beauty of simple and slow living, finding joy in the process of creating things that truly speak to my soul, even if it doesn't make sense to others. It's about being present and fully immersed in the creative flow, where time seems to stand still. And in that process of exploration, I discovered my love for design movements like cottagecore and modern farmhouse style. These aesthetics capture the essence of simple, slow living in idyllic rural settings, and they resonate deeply with my own artistic vision.

Growing up, I was always drawn to fabrics, prints, and motifs that reminded me of my childhood. They brought a sense of comfort and familiarity, and even without consciously realizing it, I found myself incorporating these elements into my designs. Nostalgia holds a special place in our hearts, reminding us of cherished memories and simpler times. By infusing my patterns with vintage-inspired elements, I aim to evoke that same feeling of warmth and connection.
In a world that's constantly rushing and chasing the next big thing, I found solace in doing what I love. Taking the time to immerse myself in the creative process, pouring my heart and soul into each painting, brought me a sense of peace and fulfilment. And although I adore all things vintage, I'm equally drawn to the simplicity of modern aesthetics. So, I chose to blend the old and the new, creating patterns that are infused with both modernity and timeless charm.
My surface pattern designs feature nature-inspired motifs, such as delicate florals, organic shapes, and geometric patterns. The color palette I work with consists of soft pastels, warm neutrals, and earthy tones, creating a sense of tranquility and serenity. I also incorporate vintage patterns and whimsical details, like dainty florals, toile de Jouy, gingham, and lace-inspired designs. By blending these elements together, I create a unique and versatile collection that celebrates the fusion of vintage and contemporary aesthetics.

As I started creating seasonal collections, I found myself completely immersed in the process. Choosing themes, colors, and creating the collection felt so natural to me – like I was truly in my element. That's when I realized I wanted to share my work with the world and take the next step forward. Choosing a market was a challenging decision, but I knew that my design aesthetic and style could fit into more than just one. Whether it's clothing, home decor items, stationery, or accessories, my patterns can seamlessly integrate into various product lines. The versatility of surface pattern design is truly endless, and I fell even more in love with it as I explored its possibilities.
In addition to my passion for slow and simple living, I also believe in the importance of sustainability. My family and I practice sustainable living in both our work and personal lives, and it's a value I hold dear. I want to connect with like-minded individuals and brands who aspire to create and consume authentic, sustainable products. Currently, I am selling digital files of my patterns, but my ultimate dream is to print my designs on natural fabrics and offer them for sale.
My biggest wish is to inspire others through my projects and content, and to collaborate with you, my reader – a sustainable brand or individual seeking vintage-inspired, nature-infused patterns. As a surface pattern designer, I want to create prints that deeply resonate with those who appreciate the beauty of vintage aesthetics. Through my designs, which embody modernity, celebrate nature, and evoke the charm of cottagecore and modern farmhouse style, I hope to explore the endless possibilities of how surface pattern designs can add value to your life.
Thank you for being here, and I promise to connect with you soon about my creative process, behind-the-scenes insights, sneak peeks of upcoming collections, and content that will inspire you in the realm of modern vintage design.
